2011-12 MAINTENANCE POLICY
Saturday Work Parties
The Saturday work parties will be organized by grade level and will consist of at least one major project and several "maintenance" type functions. Our goal is to foster community among class levels as well as meet the school facilities needs. The 3 hours worked for the mandatory work party may be used as part of the required 25 hours of yearly parent participation. (Please note this is a change from past policies.) It is also possible for families to fulfill their general Parent Participation requirement by working additional Saturday work parties. Families will be credited for any additional hours worked above and beyond their requirement.
Additionally, each class will be assigned a "parent caller". The "parent caller" will call each family in their class several days prior to the Saturday work party ensuring maximum participation. Attendance at the scheduled work party would also be necessary. Saturday Work Parties take place one Saturday each month from 8:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. See below for this year’s schedule. Parents are responsible for signing in when they arrive, and signing out when they are finished. Participants must work three hours to complete the requirement. Parents must complete and submit a parent participation form to formally record the completion of their service.
The following calendar will be observed. Dates are subject to change. Parents will be notified of any changes through the Saint’s Scoop newsletter.
To ensure successful implementation of our Maintenance Day work parties, it is important that all families attend their scheduled workday. However, due to other family commitments it might be necessary to make arrangements to work another Saturday. We are happy to accommodate families who need to work a different maintenance day. If you are unable to participate on your designated day, you must phone/email the school office or Maintenance Day coordinator to make additional arrangements.
Families who fail to make arrangements to work another Saturday will be invoiced $275 on their FACTS account for failure to complete their requirement.
The true objective is family participation!
